Result: Schild Styling

By referring to this post - the two outfits above are my absolute favorite looks I styled for Schild! It was a challenge to create a look within a certain pool of items and I'm glad it came out exactly the way I wanted!

Here are some details of the outfits:

We've still got time, let's make the most of it.

I am aware that this look pretty much resembles my last outfit posted on here that's why I'm keeping it short. I'm all about comfy sweaters and basic colors these days (well almost always actually) but as you can notice the lightweight trench was replaced by a wool coat and there is no way I'm stepping outside without a scarf or a snood trying to minimize the risk of getting ill right before very important exams. Pyjama like soft sweaters are also great for days spent studying at the library...

Cantuccini Toscani

Of course I've eaten Cantuccini before my trip to Italy last summer but these crunchy biscuits usually only accompanied my coffee. In Tuscany I found out that traditionally they were served with a glass of Vin Santo, an Italian dessert wine. The cantuccini may be dunked into the wine to make them less dry.

I was lucky enough to take home some almonds from Tuscany and decided to make something typical with them. Below is the recipe I followed to bake the cantuccini:

Ingredients:

175 g almonds, whole
250 g flour
180 g sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 packets vanilla sugar
½ little bottle of bitter almond oil
1 pinch of salt
25 g butter, room temperature
2 eggs

How to:

Roast the dry whole almonds in a pan. For the batter combine flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla sugar, bitter almond oil and salt stir well in a bowl. Add the eggs and butter until the ingredients stay together in a ball of dough and mix in the roasted, cooled almonds. The dough is going to be very sticky. With the help of a little bit of flour form the dough into a ball and put it into a cold place for 30 minutes. Divide the dough into 4 to 6 pieces (depending on the width you wish) and form a log, elongating them to a length of 25 cm. Press down gently with the palm of your hand to flatten the logs.

Preheat your oven to 200°C. Put parchment paper onto the baking tray. Put the logs onto the parchment paper, making sure there is enough space between them (about 8 cm, they spread and rise).

Bake the rolls for about 15 minutes until they are lightly toasted. Transfer the rolls onto a wire rack to cool slightly and then cut diagonally in 1cm thick slices. Arrange the cantuccini on the prepared tray, cut side down. It isn't necessary to leave space between them anymore. Bake them for an additional 10 minutes until the cantuccini are golden brown. Let the biscuits cool completely and keep in a container with a tight-fitting cover.

Buon appetito!

Sneak peek: Schild Styling

Announcement made by Stilblog

Last week I had the pleasure of styling 5 looks for the online shop Schild. It was a new experience to look behind the scenes and be part of a creative process. I had such a cozy time together with the whole crew and especially with Larissa from Stilblog, who got me into this fun feature!

Here's a sneak peek of the shooting we did! Can't wait for the result!

Charles Vögele Fashion Days 2011: Swiss Fashion Night and annabelle award

Since 2010 Zurich is also having its own fashion days and the city is full on fashion mode this week. I cleared my schedule to attend the Swiss Fashion Night yesterday which also included the annabelle award.

The Swiss Magazine annabelle organizes each year a competition for young Swiss designers with the chance to win an internship at a renowned designer's atelier. The designer in question for the 8th annual annabelle award was Roberto Cavalli, who also showed his Just Cavalli S/S 2012 collection and chose a winner amongst the five finalists.

But first, have a look at the collections of established Swiss designers.

LBD Little Black Dress S/S 2012

Eliane Diethelm and Joanna Skoczylas dedicated their label to the iconic little black dress but their spring/summer 2012 collection is very colorful and classy like the name suggests.

Aziza Zina S/S 2012

Morena Gonzales and Moritz Stoll of Aziza Zina were inspired by the Roaring Twenties era for their spring/summer 2012 collection called Calle della Damas.

Javier Reyes S/S 2012

Javier Reyes' spring/summer 2012 collection carries the colors that remind him of his birthland Mexico: the beige beaches, blue seas and green landscape. His swissness shows itself in the craftsmanship, namely the St. Gallen embroidery.

annabelle award 2011 winner Maxime Rappaz' design

Roberto Cavalli chose Maxime Rappaz to be his intern. Above is one of his two designs with which he entered the competition.

Versace for H&M: accessories and shoes

As most of you probably already have seen pictures of the entire Versace for H&M collection we decided to only show some close up pictures of the shoes and accessories we were able to preview yesterday. For the very first time the designer collaboration will also include a home collection.

Fans of the iconic and bold Versace designs with lots of color, prints and leather should mark November 17th in their calendars, when the collection will be available in stores.

Sydney Lingerie & Swimwear Launch, Freya, Fantasie, elomi, FAUVE - Up to JJ & K Cup Sizing

You might as well call this blog the 'Cityrail-blog' for the next week or so as all posts are behind-schedule and very definitely, out-of-timetable-order. Oh the hardship of the commuters life in Sydney!

But what the on earth could have possessed me to leave this fab Freya, FANTASIE, elomi, FAUVE lingerie & swimwear post on the back-burner for the past 2 to 3 weeks? Well I have been busy (yawn) and I have had a devilishly slow computer. Or is that a dervish-ly possessed computer that has had me spinning round-and-round - never mind I have come to my senses and here is what Kat & I saw at that Freya FAUVE FANTASIE and elomi launch which also spun us both round and round and round...

Fortunately I had the company of Miss Katerina Roth again & as always bow to her superior knowledge of all things under the outerwear. Both our opinions on the quality and style of what we saw was reinforced while chatting with Janine from Eveden Group after the show and it went a little like this; Quality, Fit, Quality, Fit; and of course beautiful and fabulous styles! And all this in real womens sizes; for, you know, real women! Apparently they did have some trouble finding the right /real sized models for the parade; but as you can see they triumphed in the end.

Thanks Eveden & Symbol PR for having Street Fashion Sydney again at a simply fabulous Sydney launch. And girls, ladies, women; click those links at the top of the page to visit the lingerie brand websites to see all the styles sizing and fitting information.

Press Release

From 3pm to 4pm on the 26th November, a limited audience will take part in a Victorian funeral procession orchestrated by artists Elodie Silberstein and Patricia Alvarez in Camperdown Cemetery. As would have occurred during a mourning ceremony in the 19th century, the audience will receive a black rosette to wear and mourning cookies to share.

Memorium #2 is to be a part of White Ribbon Day, the Australian campaign which seeks to prevent violence against women. The project investigates the mortality rate arising from domestic violence in the developed world. Intimate partner homicides account for one-fifth of all homicides in Australia. Of these, four out of five involve a man killing his female partner.

http://www.whiteribbon.org.au/uploads/media/Fact%20Sheet%205%20Facts%20and%20Figures%20What%20is%20violence%20against%20women%202009.pdf

During the remembrance ceremony, Elodie Silberstein will position a clay sculpture in the cemetery; this sculpture will steadily decay and in so doing will raise issues of loss, rituality, humanity and collective responsibility. The highlight of the event will be the singing performance of Patricia Alvarez.

During her creative process, Elodie photographed historic cemeteries such as Cimetière du Père Lachaise (France) and La Recoleta cemetery (Argentina). She collected pearl memorial flowers; and post-mortem photography which was used to help people cope with grief. This theatrical celebration of death shows a drastic contrast with that of the contemporary post modern pragmatic and individualist society in which death has disappeared from the familial and social spheres to move into the medical one. Elodie’s creative process is documented on her blog: http://elodiesilberstein.blogspot.com/.

Patricia described the project as “a wonderful opportunity to honour death and the cyclical nature of life. Although the subject matter is sombre and sorrowful, to lead a procession that commemorates life and death is a noble act. The sharing of ritual immortalises the intangible and is a reaffirmation to those that have died, that we too will die, and perhaps see them again. To grieve with others, acknowledges and unifies our connection to nature, and how in life, death is an eternal phenomena”.

Wednesday's Interior Decoration Inspiration: living room

There are so many details that make me swoon in these two pictures: first of all I love the dark hardwood floors and the hammered drum table. The seating area in general looks extremely cosy with all those pillows and the one with the skull is a welcoming break from the muted colors...

Currently craving: FREITAG Reference limited edition bags

For people who don't know about Freitag (by now you should all know, go read our post here) these bags might not seem that special. But considering all bags are made out of old truck tarpaulins, this is a big deal! When you think about it, how many logistics companies are running pink trucks? Yeah, that's how rare they are...

These panic pink bags would surely brighten up the dull winter months ahead of us, don't you agree?

How to get your hands on them:

Launch in-store will happen on November 10, or you might get lucky on November 22 when they'll be available at the online store. Other color options include blunt black, striking silver, brute brown and absolute anthracite.
