Jewelry by ManiaMania

Immortals ring: Organic cage ring made of bronze with Amazonite crystal

I absolutely adore these cage rings by ManiaMania, a label launched in 2009 by Australian art director and stylist duo Melanie Kamsler and Tamila Purvis. Inspired by mysticism and magic their collections have stunningly bold signature pieces I'd love to wear.

I carry you. You'll carry me. That's how it could be.

Blazer and shoes: Zara Blouse: vintage Belt: mexx Trousers: H&M
Bag: C&A Ring: from a shop in Istanbul Bracelet: Massimo Dutti

An outfit I wore about two weeks ago when it was sunnier out than today. These peeptoes have been sitting unworn in my closet for about five years. I must have liked them that much back then I had also bought the same pair in red. I came to hate low heeled shoes in the last years but actually they work very well on days you want to wear flats but want to add a bit of femininity to your walk...

Thursday's Beauty Post: nail polishes by Uslu Airlines

Nail Polish Wic by Uslu Airlines, named after the aiport Wick in the UK

How fun is it to name nail polishes after airports?
Uslu Airlines, a brand I came across every now and then but didn't really know much about, makes not only the coolest shades but is also creative when it comes to naming them. I'm talking about a Berlin based cosmetics brand created by Turkish makeup artist Feride Uslu and German entrepreneur Jan Mihm in 2003, who became very successful in a rather short period of time. Their collaborations are always unusal and sold out quickly. I have no idea where their products are sold in Switzerland but they do have an online shop!

Already checked out what "your" airport color looks like?

Last week MiJi and I paid a visit at the FREITAG shop in Switzerland to see their current Reference collection and we were lucky enough to receive a bag of our choice. We will tell you more about this iconic brand from Zurich in another post when we will also unveil our next giveaway for you.

Meet my new Hutchins bag, which is named after the founder of the Washington Post. A really cool bag which is the perfect size to carry around your documents and laptop, plus some other necessary items every girl needs in her bag!

I love how the classic shape has a modern twist due to its unique material. I'm sure you'll see this bag in many outfit posts to come!

I made myself out of the love you no longer wanted

Don't you love to display your jewelry pieces?

I finally found a lovely two-part etagère! I guess the next step is to collect more earstuds to fill out a three-part etagère! One in black would be nice..

A very Happy Easter to everyone!

Thursday's Beauty post: new favorites

L'Oréal Color Riche Serum in Radiant Rose

With a serum at the heart, this lipstick is very creamy and moisturizing! Love that the color can be built up to a very vibrant fuchsia. When I'm wearing this I keep my eyes pretty neutral, just a flick of eyeliner and some mascara will do.

MAC eyeshadows in Carbon, Satin Taupe and Brulé
MAC brush No. 217

Carbon is one of the eyeshadows I've been using for smokey eyes for a long time now but recently I also bought Satin Taupe and Brulé. For proper blending purposes I finally decided to "splurge" on the 217 brush and I find it really good! If you also like to watch makeup tutorials I can recommend you Pixiwoo's channel! Here's a smokey eyes look she did using some of the products I pictured above.

You matter

blazer - gift, top - h&m, bag - gmarket

It's much too warm for this time of year. You might know by now that I'm not a sun-seeker..so I didn't take off my blazer on principle, but not to look too somber I combined it with an african printed top. I love exotic patterns.

I wore this outfit yesterday when Neslihan and I were about to meet a key person for our next collaboration. We'll have more details on that soon.

Sunday's Recipe: French Toast

I could eat french toasts anytime of the day but they just taste particularly delicious on a Sunday morning. Below is the recipe (click here for German):

Ingredients: serves 2

2 eggs
50ml milk
20gr flour
20gr sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon ground cinammon
1 pinch of salt
3 slices bread
1 tablespoon butter
maple syrup

How to:

Whisk all the ingredients in a shallow bowl until foamy. Heat butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Dip the slices of bread in the egg mixture, turning to coat thoroughly. Let excess drip back into bowl. Cook the bread slices turning, until both sides are nicely browned, about 2 minutes each side.Transfer to a warm plate and keep warm in oven. Repeat with remaining bread and egg mixture. Serve with maple syrup or sprinkle powdered sugar on top.

Have a good Sunday, everyone!

The Fashion Bargain - A Revolution Begins

Report filed by our special correspondent Harry Perlich.

A Street Fashion Sydney delegation attended a Fashion "Revolution” at Vinnies in Paddington on Saturday. The revolution is set to be rolled out across NSW for the next two months, but it doesn’t involve armed struggle or cluster bombs. According to the media release at hand this is a revolution to make you “look good, feel good and save dollars.”

On midday Saturday, the Vinnies Paddo shop ran a runway show on its upper gallery for the benefit of teeming shoppers below. The models, including Miss Teen Australia winner Tahlia Giumelli; wearing seasonally styled assortments of recycled, re-loved fashion demonstrated how easy it is to match the season’s new looks, and at a fraction of the cost of new. (Put that in your pipe and smoke it Zara!) We didn’t jot down the details of every outfit, but names like Gucci and, obscure (to this reporter) much-coveted-shoe-labels were mentioned during the parade. All ensembles were not more than $130 and in some cases much much less. Shoppers were able to buy the clothes modelled after the parade. The money for sales is going to a good cause and of course the recycling of Gucci, Mambo and other fashion helps you build your carbon credits.

Vinnies has done something creative that’s a natural extension of their activity of selling second-hand clothes, to students-the-poor-and, the tight of wallet. They’re helping us to appreciate the cutting edge looks you can create for yourself by running these mini-runway shows. Karmyn Pembridge, Vinnie stylist, was also on hand to spruik the outfits and offer tips for different sized women to optimise their own look.

Specifically identified trends at the show included Camel, described as the “new nude”. And of course no objection to that. Plus Aviator, the Tailored look and "Precious Stones.

Ottoman dress

I was sent this gorgeous ASOS dress a couple of weeks ago but waited for the perfect occasion to wear it. This weekend one of our best friends is getting married and with the bachelorette party and other festivities we had many occasions to dress up.

Asymmetric one shoulder dresses are one of my favorite shapes one me and combined with the drapiness of the fabric and its name, I needed to have it in my closet.

Lolita Sunglasses & Leather Jacket Sydney

Is it just me or have I been seeing quite a bit of these heart shaped 'Lolita' glasses around town of late? Well thats just fine, especially when they are teamed in a great urban assault outfit like this; Black Skivvy, Leather Jacket, Blue Jeans and Pixie-style Biker-rrr Boots-you are ready for anything.

Lolita Sunglasses & Leather Jacket Sydney

And while on the subject of Lolita or at least the Kubrick film version (which I have not seen for many years)... I turned up the interesting tit-bit of info that the Master of 60's Photography Burt Stern was behind the lens (& me thinks the glasses idea too cause he was that kind of guy) of the publicity shot. The glasses were not used in the film itself! I know what you are thinking, "Kent, thats the photographer who did the Marilyn Monroe 'Last Sitting' shoot isn't it?" Well yes indeed it is.

Monroe

Isn't it interesting how things go together; from here to there and back again!

Wednesday's Interior Decoration Inspiration: Vanity Trays

Currently on the hunt for: vanity trays

They can be in a baroque style as pictured above or more modern in acrylic, silver or in a bold pattern. As for me, I'll probably be looking for them on flea markets to add some finishing touches to my apartment. Just in case I won't find what I'm looking for I thought a framed mirror could also be used as a tray to display your favorite items.

How do you like to organize/display your favorite makeup, perfumes or jewelry?
