Weleda treatment at Schminkbar

Here are some impressions of yesterday's Weleda aperitif. Weleda is a Swiss organic cosmetics brand and they have a long tradition of using pure ingredients for their products.

Weleda invited us to an aperitif and offered various treatments with their newest product line such as the Granatapfel (pomegranate) face skin care line!

We had a very relaxing afternoon at the Schminkbar, where the staff made sure we all got pampered.

Delicate food and massages are probably the best way to lift one's mood.

Summer in the city

Like many other women every summer I'm on the look-out for new beauty products to make me feel polished all day long. Instead of doing a "What's in my beauty bag?" post I just listed them below. I've been using most of them for a long time and I'm really satisfied with them. So, here are my summer essentials:

1) Estée Lauder Double Wear: Let me start by saying that I have a rather oily, blemish-prone skin, so when it gets warmer this foundation has pretty much of a holy grail status for me. It gives great coverage and lasts really long. I used the Double Wear Light version of it during last summer but I came to the conclusion that this one was much better for humid weather.

2) Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Liquid Makeup: This is the second foundation I use, mostly when I have breakouts. Its staying power can pretty much hold up with Double Wear and after applying it I don't even need additional concealer for spots.

3) Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte: I like a matt finish so I carry this translucent powder with me at all times. Upon applying foundation I set my foundation with loose powder from Yves Rocher at home, so this compact always stays in my bag for touch-ups on the go and lasts me a long time.

4) L'Oréal Touche Magique Concealer: I always buy different under-eye concealers but I keep coming back to this brush pen to brighten up and illuminate my tired eyes. The coverage is not very high and since I use the lightest shade it also doubles as a highlighter.

5) MAC Sonic Chic Mineralized Blush in Dainty: This blush came in a goodie bag and I've been using it almost every day for nearly a year now! If I can see the bottom of the pan it means that I really loved the product and this is no exception. ^^ Dainty is a warm pink color with subtle shimmer and flatters my skintone equally in summer and in winter. It's highly pigmented, long-lasting and gives my cheeks a pretty glow.

6) Chanel Nouvelle Vague nail polish: This nail polish is on my shopping list but unfortunately it's still not available in Switzerland. Chanel nail polishes almost have no staying power on my nails but I know that I won't be able to resist this shade which will be perfect for summer.

7) Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté in Peach Passion: Apparently this lipstick is on my wish list since October 2008!! I don't really know why I never bought it but I definitely have to have this peach colored lipstick this summer!

8) Bourjois Délice de Poudre Bronzer: I was lucky to get this bronzer in a goodie bag as well and recommended it to many girlfriends in the last two years I've been using it. I mostly use it for contouring my cheekbones or when I want a sunkissed look I lightly apply it all over my face. This bronzer looks and smells heavenly like a chocolate bar and I'm definitely sticking with it since this one doesn't look orangey or muddy on me.

Do we share any favorites? Which products are your summer essentials?

Test Review Part 1

HP Mini 210 Vivienne Tam 2

After testing the latest special edition by Hewlett-Packard, I want to point out some advantages that accrued while doing the Style-Check.

The first thing you'll notice about this netbook is that it's less than 1" thin and as light as 2.69Ibs. It fits so easily into purses and you start to wonder if this tiny device is really going to work. Well, yes it does. ^^

As soon as you turn on the Netbook you'll become aware of the butterfly theme, which is not only to see on the cover. The desktop includes three butterflies as well. And that's not all, there a two little ones more. The common Windows start button has been replaced by a butterfly. It begins to flutter its wings the moment you put the cursor on the start menu. When you click the menu, another butterfly flies for a few seconds. It leaves the initial position by flying away and repositioning itself in the background. The flush glass display is greatly glossy by the way ^^

The design by Vivienne Tam reflects a Chinese love story called "Butterfly Lovers" - a fairy tale of freedom, romance and inspiration.

The Netbook represents these three key claims in a beautiful way. At first sight the butterfly details seem to be rather an optional accessory than a clear benefit, but the design and the girly elements are something you'd be delighted at in any situation.

The photo above was taken while enjoying coffee and sweets with Nesli. We both brought the Netbook along since it's so uncomplicated to carry it around. We could go online very quickly and it felt really nice to be free. As students you don't have to care about the full computer rooms at the university anymore!

Not only as a student but also as a blogger, there are several helpful set ups. As a blogger you scroll around a page or image a lot, but the scrolling, zooming and rotating can be done by using two fingers. You hardly need to move them since the TouchPad is so sleek and smooth.

Another set up, which I appreciate is the Digital Media Slot (no. 17 in the photo above). You can place your memory card into the slot and you don't need a separate card reader. There were many times when I couldn't find my card reader and it is so annoying especially if you want to transfer and check out the photos you took...

The integrated keyboard is neary a full size keyboard - 92% of the standard size. The typing is comfortable and its backdrop color is the same warm champagne gold like on the cover.

The HP Mini 210 Vivienne Tam 2 offers on the one hand beauty on the outside and on the other hand many qualities on the inside. It is possible to work productively and even get creative while you're on the go.

"I wanted to give life and color to a computer. Even if you're in the office, you should feel like you're in a garden," Vivienne Tam said about her first design back in 2008.

It's very nice to see that this philosphy is still valid for her work.

The Netbook embodies for me some kind of a small first aid kit. The mini laptop is something you shouldn't leave at home when you're a busy person. It allows you in any situation to go online very quickly and to get important things done.

The Netbook isn't only about technology, it's also about fashion and lifestyle. HP and Tam created a new genre.

Thanks to Hewlett-Packard and Richterich und Partner, who appointed us to be their "style scouts" for the Tam special edition 2, we were able to get an idea about this new approach.

Therefore we can't thank you enough for this opportunity!

Does anyone of you own this lovely digital clutch as well? It would be nice to hear about your impressions...

As Winter falls it's time to visit The Doc+ors...

As a younger man growing up in Brisbane winter was my favourite time of year. In the Sub Tropics it's the only time of year you get to layer up with jackets, coats, shirts and neckties. I loved it then & I still do. And of course no one can break a heart quite like a Brisbane girl... And so perhaps it was in some way appropriate having recently had my heart broken by a beautiful and stylish Brisbane-girl-in-Sydney that I should set off to the Doc+ors to mix and mend my broken winter’s heart.

It was nice to see so many splashes of colour mixed in with winter coats and jackets. Even I made a special effort last night donning a vintage 80s leather Blouson, the full New Romantic catastrophe over a bright yellow checked shirt with vintage cotton knit necktie. The splashes of colour, Reds, Blues, Greens, reminded me that Rhiannon was quite right, winter doesn't need to be dark at all but can instead be about 'All The Colours Of The Rainbow' as styled in our editorial shoot for Le Magazine.

Of course another reason for the colour splashes may have been that we were at the opening of 'Evolve Already' with Antochrist – the “Madonna of the art world”...

Indian spirit

Current craving: dreamcatcher earrings from Topshop

I would wear these beauties with long wavy hair and a loose tank top..too bad the weather's so ugly right now. Freakish hail, rain and wind storms.
