MCA, Gaffa Gallery & The Sydney High Lock

When heading out and running late the quickest way for me to get into the city is to cycle over to Sydenham Station, lock up my bike and catch the train. Last Thursday on my way to the new Gaffa Gallery in Sydney that is exactly what I did but imagine my complete surprise when arriving at the lock-up-spot at the station I saw my first 'High Locked' bike in Sydney. Apparently this is an imported idea from the NYC cycling scene. Whilst I was delighted in how the bike framed a curious composition with the city in the background; I was at the same time rather bemused as to why someone had taken so much trouble locking up such a basic commuter bike. We shall most likely never know.

The new Gaffa Gallery is a multi storied wonder and the MCA Staff Show was a great way for me to experience Gaffa's new gallery spaces. After photographing artist Mark Booth downstairs (The B&W Portrait) we able to head upstairs and cavort with the artists and friends on the roof top.

Casual Saturday

Encouraged by the beautiful weather today my sister, cousin and I had breakfast outside and went to a flea market nearby. Our secondhand hunting continued well into the afternoon and luckily we also found some nice things. On our way I picked up the newest issue of Vogue Paris with a mesmerising Rose Cordero on the cover and we enjoyed it alongside our coffees. It was definitely a lovely day...

Dry shampoo

Some feel good products:
1. Laura Mercier, almond and coconut body and bath collection / creme brulee body and bath collection
2. Fresh, citron de vigne candle
The mix of almond and coconut must be heavenly.

T3, refresh volumizing dry shampoo

Does anyone of you have experience with dry shampoo?

I would love to try it out, but I'm quite skeptical about the effect though...

Night Shopping at H&M/ Sonia Rykiel Pre-Sale

Yesterday H&M and the Swiss magazines Annabelle and Friday hosted a night shopping and the guests also had the chance to buy the Sonia Rykiel knitwear collection beforehand. Since I wasn't crazy about the collection I just did some regular shopping and hung out with friends who were also there. A fun night with music, candies, macarons and lots of champagne... ^^

What are your thoughts on the collection? Will you be buying anything tomorrow?

ime Launch 'At Perry Lane'

I have attended a few launches and shows at 'At Perry Lane' now. Its a rather sweet courtyard cafe on the weekend and a funky public/private gallery space during the week. On Wednesday the 17th it was Daniele Blaauw's and her new ime jewellery ranges turn to bask in the spotlight. Of course as usual I was doing a fair bit of people watching in between knocking over a few Coopers beers.

Strangely I seemed to find the men winning in style stakes on this night; or maybe it was just that the men had some unique Aussie style (no, mens Aussie style is not an oxymoron) at this launch that got the better of my cameras attention.

Of course the jewellery got plenty of attention as well and after sending a phone camera pic to stylist Rhiannon Bulley I was instructed to secure a couple of pieces for our 'Le Magazine' photoshoot this weekend.

You can see the ime jewellery range for yourself at Akwa Avenue, 78 Enmore Rd Newtown or call 9565 5803.

What they're wearing in...

The Times UK has a section called "What they're wearing in:..." every Saturday with people from all around the world. Last Saturday it was Zurich's turn so I ended up being in the paper. ^^ Thanks a lot to Sarah for contacting me and to Louise for informing me about it on Twitter. I'd love to have the real newspaper from February 13th. So if by chance any of our UK readers has an old paper lying around, please let me know!

Versatile

Caroline Blomst from Caroline's Mode recently did an editorial using 14 items to create 14 different looks. I always like stylings like these because they prove that you don't need tons of different clothes to wear a new look every day.

My favourite is this one because it incorporates the two items from my latest post and also shows that they can be worn very casually sporty.

Have a look at the other 13 looks here. She has a competition going on til 22/2 and you could win an entire outfit of your choice!

Friday's Inspiration

This gorgeous woman is wearing the two pieces I've been coveting for a long time now.
I think a light weight parka, preferably in khaki, is a must for me this spring! Last year I almost found the perfect vintage leather skirt which was also really inexpensive because the sales person didn't notice it was genuine leather. (I love it when that happens!) ^^
Unfortunately it was a wee bit small for me so my closet still lacks one...
Below are some items I like:

Cave of wonders

I love the jewelry with rough, uncut stones from Paula Mendoza's latest collection! They're all so beautiful I couldn't even choose a favorite. Which is yours?

I came across them on Elif's blog The Fashion Medley which is full of inspirational editorials, not so common runway pictures and styling ideas. Have a look at it!
